All in American Fairy Tales
This week's story comes to us from the one and only Louisa May Alcott. 'Little Annie's Dream" is a story about controlling our negative emotions, something that I'm sure we all struggle with from time to time.
Today we have our last story for 2022 (and my favorite tradition) our annual reading of 'A Visit From St. Nicholas'. The podcast will bring you the most listened to episodes from the past year next week and then we'll start fresh in January!
Today we're bringing you a poem about apples and the tale of 'Johnny Appleseed' that is told to nearly every school aged child in the United States.
'The Gay Little King' is the story of the adventures of a young boy named Jaimie and a little maple, transformed into the little king.
The votes have been tallied and today we begin "The Topaz Story Book" with an Introduction, a poem and 'Nipon and the King of the Northland'!
"American Fairy Tales" is a collection of stories (sometimes racist and offensive) from the renowned author of "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz", L Frank Baum.
TW: Racism. AAPI hate in America has a long history. This tale from L Frank Baum is a prime example of that history.
TW: Animal violence. 'The King of the Polar Bears' is a prime example of Baum going a bit overboard in the course of the tale, but landing on a great moral when all is said and done.
'The Dummy That Lived' shows us a bored Ryl can be a terrible thing. Especially if he happens to spy a wax dummy in a department store.
