The first of three new stories from Volume 2 of Charles Skinner's "Myths and Legends of our Own Land" is one that I enjoy because it really highlights the cruelty of the English towards the indigenous people.
Today we have the Aesop tale of 'The Cat and The Mice' and La Fontaine's adaptation 'The Cat and The Rat'. A story about trickery that's one of my absolute favorites.
This week is going to be all about Aesop and La Fontaine, with each episode featuring a fable from Aesop and its adaptation by La Fontaine. Beginning with 'The Ass and the Lap Dog' and 'The Ass and the Little Dog'.
To finish off our week of French stories I'm going to ease into next week's set of Aesop's Fables with the French version of an Aesop classic, as told by Jean de la Fontaine. This is 'The Fox, the Monkey and the Other Animals'.
